Nope; not stressed at all

Last night, I must have been more tired than I realized because shortly after lying down, I was asleep and almost immediately dreaming.

In my “dream”, I was driving my truck (2004 Saturn Vue, Chili Pepper Red – no denying it’s mine) on an unfamiliar highway, but I was also viewing everything from the backseat. This highway seemed to be carved out of a large grouping of rocky hills because both sides of the road were shear rock, similar to granite, with very few crevices (if any) for either hand or foot holds. I was behind an ordinary looking white minivan, but I don’t think we were together and I knew I had the baby with me despite never seeing her.

I had been driving for awhile when I noticed what looked like dead fish and other debris on the road ahead. Due to confusion over what I was seeing, I slowed down, but continued driving. The further I went, the more fish and debris there were; I knew there was a bridge ahead and that I had to cross it.

As I rounded the bend, I could see water on the road . . . small puddles, at first, then larger and larger ones until I finally saw the top of the bridge; we were almost there!

When the whole bridge came into view, it was almost submerged, but you could see clear areas. Other drivers had pulled over, including the minivan, but I kept driving and, halfway across the bridge, wave after wave hit us; I had no choice, but to keep going. We must have been hit at least six times before being knocked into the water . . . mere feet from safety.

When I awoke, it was with a gasp and my heart racing. I grabbed my phone to check the time; only 30 minuets had passed since I decided to try sleep.

  1. Ugh! I hate vivid dreams like those! I remember once having a similar dream where I was driving along by myself, and almost went over a cliff. What stopped me was our old pastor, Fr. Ken, who literally stopped my car. The scary thing was, in real life, Fr. Ken is dead. He has been since 2006 I believe. Then, a week later, I was in a pretty bad car accident. I was the only one in the car, and I was definitely being watched over, because the car was totaled, and anyone who saw pictures of it, was shocked that I came out without a scratch. I remember blacking out for a few seconds when my head hit the airbags, but talk about prophetic dreams right?

Yours seems to be more stress related though, like the waves I think represent the things that are being “tossed” at you. Hope you have a better sleep tonight!

  2. Definitely stress related, and going over the side just short of safety represents a feeling of being overwhelmed. Not that you don’t know that already, though.

I hope the ability to sleep comes back soon, though. How well I know the feeling.
